The CAC API for Nigerian businesses

Check names, file Business Names with CAC and get the certificate, all from inside your own product.

Your users need a CAC number to unlock what you offer. Today they leave your app to get one. With the FastCAC API, they never have to.

Ada's registration, inside your app

Ada uses your app and needs a CAC number to go further. Here's every step, and the API behind it.

  1. Step 1

    Ada picks a name

She types Ada Foods Ventures. Before she pays, your app knows whether CAC will accept it, and gets a reason code to branch on when it won't.

    Name Search API

    POST /v1/businesses/names/availability
The Check a business name response in the FastCAC docs
  2. Step 2

    She adds her documents

Her NIN slip, passport photo and signature are checked the moment each one arrives, so a bad file is caught now, not days later by CAC.

    Registration API

    POST /v1/businesses/registrations/{id}/documents
The Upload a document request in the FastCAC docs
  3. Step 3

One call files it with CAC

The registration goes to CAC. The fee comes from your prepaid wallet, with CAC's filing fee included.

    Registration API

    POST /v1/businesses/registrations/{id}/submissions
The Submit a registration response in the FastCAC docs
  4. Step 4

    CAC asks a question

CAC wants a clearer passport photo. You get the field, a code and CAC's own words, Ada fixes it in your app, and resubmitting costs nothing extra.

    Status API

    webhook registration.queried
The registration.queried webhook in the FastCAC docs
  5. Step 5

    Ada is registered

CAC approves. A signed webhook tells you, and CAC's certificate is ready to download as a PDF.

    Status API

    webhook registration.certificate_ready
The registration.certificate_ready webhook in the FastCAC docs

Questions

What is FastCAC API?

One API for registering businesses with CAC from inside your own product. It covers name checks, registration, documents, CAC queries, webhooks, the certificate and billing, with a test mode that never touches CAC.

How much does the CAC API cost?

There's no setup or monthly fee. A Business Name registration is ₦35,000 including CAC's filing fee, a name check is ₦80 and a NIN lookup is ₦100, all charged from a prepaid wallet. Test requests use test money.

How do I get a CAC API key?

Create an account at developers.fastcac.com. Test keys (fc_test_…) are available straight away. Live keys (fc_live_…) become available once your business passes the self-serve compliance checks, with no call needed.

Is there a CAC API sandbox?

Yes. Test keys never reach CAC or move real money. You choose CAC's decision with simulate (approved, queried, rejected and more), and the test wallet starts with ₦1,000,000 of test money.

Can I register a Limited Company through the API?

Not yet. Business Names are live today and Limited Company registration is coming to the same API.
